Guzheng – gǔzhēng 古筝

Just like in Brandon Goes to Beijing (北京), when we went to Beijing a few years ago, we went to visit a house in the hútòng (胡同), which are the little alleys hidden between the main streets of the city. There we were treated to a private performance by a woman playing a Chinese zither, called a gǔzhēng (古筝). The gǔzhēng (古筝) is a Chinese plucked string instrument with more than 2,500 year history! Brandon recorded it (with the musician’s permission, of course) and I am thrilled to share it with you here! Enjoy!
